It’s been almost 24 hours since the New York Giants were named Super Bowl Champs and the media buzz that’s more intriguing is the missed opportunities made by the New England Patriots which caused them a fourth championship. The dropped balls, the interception, the sacks, had all attributed to the Patriots loss. So who was to blame? Was it Wes Welker‘s dropped pass that he makes al the time at every game? Was it the intentional grounding pass Tom Brady threw that caused a safety? There were many mistakes made by the team, but to the media and myself there was one play put the nail in the coffin. Wes Welker.
Wes Welker was pretty much alone with a clear shot at either a first down or a possible game winning touchdown with four minutes left in the game. Welker is one of the elite widereceivers of the league with 122 receptions for over 1500 yards and nine touchdowns. So how could a receiver that good blow such a huge opportunity? At this point it is neither here nor there because after the confetti falls, Welker and his teammates have to take that long trip back to their prospective homes without a championship ring. Keep Reading There’s More…
The NFL now has its Super Bowl Champs, the New York Giants, who despite being the underdogs of the game made a huge impact by beating the New England Patriots. Going into this game it could appear to others and the media that the Patriots would be a shoe in for the victory.
But Eli Manning proved otherwise as he handed the ball off to Ahmad Bradshaw for a touchdown with 57 seconds left in the game for a five point lead. Though the Giants two-point conversion wasn’t a success it left Tom Brady with under a minute to make a comeback. Unfortunately this comeback did not happen a sack and dropped passes by the receivers. Which meant the NFL had its champs, the New York Giants and quarterback, Eli Manning as the Super Bowl XLVI’s MVP.
Being a lover of the game of football, I’d have to say that the game turned out a complete success. It was exciting with no clear cut favorite for the MVP trophy. Though I was rooting for the Patriots for this one, I have to give credit where credit is due and give a big hand clap for the Giants doing what they needed to do to come out with a victory. In the end, Congratulations to them.
